  • Surreal.

Today I went out with a couple of friends, and my car was towed. We were downtown, with no way of getting anywhere, and no money.

    I
was freaking out when a man walked up to the three of us and asked what happened. My friend Josh told him my car was towed, and he asked me how much it cost to retrieve it. I told him.
He asked Josh to come with him, and said he'd be back in a minute.

I had meanwhile progressed to the crying stage of shock when you come back to the parking lot and your car is gone, and was trying not to hyperventilate while Lin tried to calm me down.

Josh came back with the man, who handed me a wad of twenties.

"Get your car back, it'll be okay," he said. "My name is Mitch Sweeney- you guys have a good night."

    And then he walked off.

I managed to choke out a "Thank you so much" as he was leaving. I counted the twenties. He'd given me $200. I looked up at Josh. "Why did he give me this?"

"I don't know. He wanted to help you. He just walked up to the ATM and withdrew $200," Josh said. "Whatever that guy does for a living- I want to do it."

We called a friend of mine to pick us up and take us to the towing lot. I got my car back.

I won't ever see Mitch Sweeney again, and he never even asked my name. I have no way of paying him back except to someday find a stranger I can do a lifesaving favor for. But his random act of kindness will not be forgotten.

Faith in humanity? Yeah. I've got some.

  • Blogspot.

    I'm switching.

I'll be on here sometimes but not as much, and from what I can tell not many people read my posts anyway.

But I just thought I'd throw that out there.

  • Driving.

I'll be doing lots of driving this weekend, but it's totally worth it.

Tomorrow I have to drive back to Austin to turn in all of my Defensive Driving papers to get rid of my speeding ticket.  Ew.  But:

    1) I'm stopping in Round Rock on the way to pick up Emily so we can
    2) Go to Kerrville to visit Lin until Sunday.

Then I'll drive back to Round Rock, drop Em off, and head home.  I'm think it's definitely over 600 or 700 miles in one weekend.

But despite that, I'm so excited about tomorrow.  I haven't seen Lin in almost two weeks, since I moved out of my dorm and came home.  And I miss her.  So I'm pretty excited we get to hang out this weekend.  It's funny how, after everything, some people can still make you happy without even trying.

All the crap I went through before this last month just makes it even more worthwhile and meaningful.  I've finally found a nice silver lining.

  • Dancing in Houston

Does anybody out there live in Houston and know anything about summer dance classes?

Specifically, Hip-Hop, preferably in the area around Spring/The Woodlands/Conroe/Tomball, or actually I'm not really that picky, I just need to find a studio that teaches adult classes.

    Thanks!

  • TTFN Austin

Today is my last full day in Austin, and actually it's way more depressing than I thought it would be.

I've made so many wonderful friends this year, and leaving this beautiful city and all those beautiful people for the summer is going to be hard.

Plus I hate packing so much it's ridiculous.

Anyway.  Things have been looking way, way up lately, and I'm going to do my best to pull it through the summer.  Next semester promises more crazy adventures, late nights, and amazing memories with the friends I've come to love.

We may all be leaving, but the time that makes us leave will also bring us back together.  And I'll be counting down the days.

    "Hobey ho, let's go."

Hey, I call it like I see them. I believe in rec-ing stuff I agree with. I dare anyone to say they blog for purely personal reasons with no hope for outside input if they don't have a completely private blog. Everyone wants to know that someone's listening, even if it's just a view of the page.
